Seven Sorrows BVM | Middletown, PA
Effective June 17th, Seven Sorrows will offer two Sunday Masses: 8:00 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., rather than the current three: 7:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m., and 11:30 a.m. The 5:30 p.m. Mass on Saturday evenings will remain unchanged.Â
For a further explanation of the reasoning behind the decision to make this change, read Fr. Ogden's letter in the May 6th Weekly Bulletin. We ask for your understanding and prayerful support of the schedule change.
Rev. Louis P. Ogden, Pastor
Rev. Edward R. Lavelle, Senior Priest
Rev. Mr. Thomas A. Lang, Deacon
In response to the recent Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) mandate requiring almost all private health plans to cover contraception, sterilization and abortion-inducing drugs, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops' (USCCB) Ad Hoc Committee for Religious Liberty has issued a document entitled Our First, Most Cherished Liberty: A Statement on Religious Liberty. This statement details the history of religous freedom in this country as well as various attacks on religious liberty taking place currently. You can read a summary of this document in the parish bulletin, or click to read it here.
In addition, the USCCB is encouraging prayers for the protection of religious liberty. Pray especially to Mary Immaculate, the Patroness of the United States of America; Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Patroness of all the Americas -- and also of our unborn brothers and sisters; and St. Thomas More, the Patron of Religious Freedom.

The 2011-12 Religious Education school year has come to a close. Please read below for some closing thoughts.
IS IT REALISTIC FOR US TO THINK THAT WE COULD DOUBLE THE SIZE OF OUR PARISH IN ONE YEAR?
Why not? Why shouldn’t we aim high? Really, is it that high at all? Is it really so unrealistic to ask every member of our Parish to shepherd one soul back to the Sacraments and to the practice of their faith in the next year? Is that so impossible, for each one to reach one, and work with them for a year and to invite them to come and learn more of the faith?
Well, we are going to try.Â
