The following students were awarded FIRST PLACE in the school science fair; Michael Tokar, Rachael McKee, Noah Bamert. SECOND PLACE– Carolyn Ciccocioppo, Peter Rankin, Virginia Kern, Lydia Bowers, Zach Young, Katie Hartwell, Trevor Kisler and HONORABLE MENTION– Chase Kinsey, Caity Young and Luke Arnold.

Ms. Mary Lee Shaffer’s third grade students were each assigned an old English Christmas Carol that had an animal reference. During library and computer class they researched their carol for the origin, author and other interesting facts. They created a Christmas card featuring their carol and the information they gathered. During the American Red Cross of the Susquehanna Valley’s Animal Assisted Therapy Program "Tales With T.A.I.L.S." visit, each child presented their information to the class and their animal friends. Students and volunteers sang the carols and enjoyed snacks.

As part of their study of the solar system, the 5th grade science class created futuristic space crafts for travel to the planets. Each student also designed and published a travel brochure for the planet of their choice.

The following students will participate in the MathCounts competition at Penn State Harrisburg, Saturday, February 4th: Team competition– Noah Bamert, Katie Hartwell, Sarah Carson, Peter Rankin, Individual Competition– Virginia Kern, Carolyn Ciccocioppo, Chance Montgomery, Michael Tokar, Serena Seltzer, Maureen Hartwell and alternate-Trevor Kisler.
